Cameron Lawrence take home the 2014 Trans Am TA2 Championship in Daytona
Daytona Beach, FL. (Nov. 15, 2014) – Saturday was a day that Miller Racing and all of its great team members will remember forever. It was the day that we were able to successfully defend our 2013 TA2 Championship.
Going into the final race at Daytona Cameron Lawrence, our unbelievably talented driver, drove the number 1 Dodge SRT CTEK NorthStar Battery Challenger to victory to clinch the Trans Am TA2 championship.
The team and Cameron came into Saturday the final race of the 2014 season with a slim one point lead over, another very talented driver Adam Andretti. Everything was riding on being able to finish in front of Adam to win a Championship.
Things started to fall into place early in the week as Cameron ran consistently and fast so for qualifying on Friday the team felt we had a chance to gain another point by capturing the pole. Cameron left the pits on Friday with much confidence that he would be somewhere near the front for the start of the race. However, that all changed as he came onto the radio on his second lap and reported that he had lost second gear in the bus stop at the far side of the track. Collectively, those of us listening to Cameron simply hung our heads and felt that our quest for the extra point was gone and so was a front row starting position. But, a few moments later Cameron streaked across the start-finish line and he had just turned the fasted lap of the week at 1.51.368. We all were absolutely stunned. Somehow the transmission had worked through the infield portion of the track and Cameron found a way to get through the bus stop without losing much time. Cameron came in and sat in the pits and waited while our other drivers worked to put their cars up front. At the close of Qualifying Cameron had taken the pole and Tommy Kendall in the number 11 Dodge SRT Challenger had qualified third for Miller Racing leaving the team with more hope that we could prevail in the race on Saturday.
Mike Miller thanks all the people that make up the Miller Racing Team and all of those that support the team.
Special thanks go out to Dodge, and SRT for their support, Russ Ruedisueli, Dave Bailey, Mike Rossey, Pat Baer, Rick Talbot, Tom O'Dell, Mike Su, and all the team at SRT, Beth Peratta, and Gary Johnson. Thanks to everyone at Arrow Lee, Dale, and the team.
Thanks to NorthStar, and CTEK.

Tommy Archer set to fill in for Tommy Kendall at Lime Rock Park
Veteran driver to take the wheel of No. 11 Dodge Challenger for one-off appearance with Miller Racing
SALISBURY, Conn. (Sept. 18, 2014) – Tommy Archer will be stepping into the driver’s seat of the No. 11 Miller Racing Dodge Challenger for Tommy Kendall this weekend at Lime Rock Park for Round Nine of the 2014 Trans Am Championship.
“Unfortunately Tommy (Kendall) had a preexisting television commitment this weekend,” said Mike Miller, owner of Miller Racing. “He’ll be back next weekend at Virginia International Raceway, but for this weekend we’re fortunate enough to have longtime Dodge driver Tommy Archer ready to fill in.”
Archer made his Trans Am debut in 1992 at Long Beach in a Dodge Daytona and has 48 Trans Am starts to his name, including 3 wins, 21 top-five appearances and 35 top-10 appearances.
“It’s really special to be able to come back,” said Archer, who worked with Dodge on the development of the Viper Competition Coupe in the 2000s. “A lot of people out there that love Trans Am like to see drivers that they’ve watched over the years, and I’m one of the guys who can say he has won Trans Am races in the past. I think we’ll be competitive with the Challenger at Lime Rock.”
In addition to Archer’s entry, Miller Racing will field the No. 1 Challenger for TA2 class points leader and defending TA2 Champion Cameron Lawrence.
Lawrence, who won the 2013 TA2 title, finished second at Lime Rock in 2013 after starting 10th in the event. The Lime Rock race was one of just two events Lawrence did not win during his nine-victory championship season.
“Cameron is always a threat to win any race in which he’s entered,” said Miller. “He’s had two great runs over the past two races, and I’m excited to see what he has in store for us back behind the wheel here at Lime Rock.”
Round Nine of the 2014 Trans Am Championship at Lime Rock Park will take place on Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. EDT, with the race concluding at 67 laps (100.5 miles) or 75 minutes. The event will mark the third Trans Am race in which Miller Racing has participated with SRT Motorsports and the Dodge Challenger platform.

SRT® Motorsports Makes its Trans Am Series Debut with Dodge Challenger SRT
Tommy Kendall Returns to Trans Am Racing
LEXINGTON, Ohio (Aug. 14, 2014) - SRT ® (Street and Racing Technology) Motorsports will make its debut into the Trans Am Series when Miller Racing fields two all-new Dodge Challenger SRTs at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Aug 15-16. Four-time series champion Tommy Kendall makes his re-entrance and first Trans Am start since 2004 in the TA2 series class this weekend.
As SRT Motorsports partners with Miller Racing to enter Trans Am competition for the balance of the 2014 season, Kendall will drive the No. 11 Dodge Challenger SRT while teammate and TA2 points leader Cameron Lawrence will drive the No. 1 Challenger beginning at the Mid-Ohio race, an event Lawrence won in 2013.
The mid-season manufacturer switch by Miller Racing gives the team a more-robust support base. It also brings Kendall back to the series where he won four championships in the 1990s (1990, 1995-1997). The move also marks Dodge's debut into the TA2 class of the Trans Am road racing series.
Kendall, who last competed in the Trans Am Series in 2004, is best known for winning championships in Trans Am and IMSA, as well as his victory in the 1995 Rolex 24 At Daytona. The heralded driver also serves as a television analyst for Fox Sports 1 and NBC Sports.
"I've wanted to return to Trans Am competition for the longest time and then I finally kind of accepted that it wasn't going to happen," said Kendall. "It's funny how things work. Being coaxed back into the Viper GTS-R program back in 2012 helped pave the way to my return. Over the last 10-15 years, I've committed to only doing things that are fun. Trans Am was a huge part of my professional life and to get to play a small part in keeping up the visibility here is really exciting."
Kendall has the third most Trans Am victories with 28, while Lawrence has captured 14 wins in 21 series starts since 2012.
As Miller Racing switches manufacturers to Dodge, Lawrence will retain his TA2 class points. The 21-year-old driver currently holds a 35-point margin over second place.
"We definitely want to continue the success we've had and we're really excited to bring Dodge on board," said Lawrence. "We want to stay on top and keep the season rolling with the momentum we've had. It'd be really cool to get some wins for Dodge and SRT Motorsports this season, and although it's going to be tough adapting halfway through the season, we're going to do our best to get the Dodge Challenger SRT to victory lane."
Miller Racing was formed in 2012 and the team captured the 2013 Trans Am TA2 class title when Lawrence won eight of 10 events, including the last seven-consecutive races. The team has captured 18 Trans Am victories in 26 races over three seasons.
In addition to the Trans Am partnership with Miller Racing, SRT Motorsports also fields two Dodge Viper SRT GTS-Rs in the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and supports a customer racing program with the Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R in the IMSA TUDOR series, Pirelli World Challenge and Supercar Challenge.
The Miller Racing Dodge Challenger SRTs and Kendall will first compete in The 3-Dimensional Services Next Dimension 100 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Friday, Aug. 15. Round seven of the 2014 Trans Am Championship will take place alongside the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Mid-Ohio this weekend. Lawrence will look to defend his 2013 Mid-Ohio victory, which was his fourth of eight victories en route to the 2013 title.
SRT Quotes for Mid-Ohio
Tommy Kendall, driver, No. 11 Dodge Challenger SRT, Miller Racing
Are you excited to team with Cameron Lawrence and Mike Miller?
"I've been following the series and, needless to say, I'm quite familiar with Cameron (Lawrence). I didn't realize it was the same Mike Miller that used to run the Roush cars way, way back. I've watched Cameron. I always ran the No. 11, so he ran the No. 11 and we became friends on Facebook. I was kind of cheering him on because he's a hell of a young talent. It's a little interesting to be coming back with a fair amount of anticipation, but to me he's the guy to beat. I'm really glad he's my teammate because I think that will help me get up to speed and remove a lot of the variables to get going again. To have Cameron and Mike Miller's team is really helpful."
How do you feel to be returning to Trans Am in the TA2 class?
"What's so cool about the TA2 class is that the cars really do look like what they are supposed to be on the street. I've just seen the Dodge Challenger SRT body for the first time and it's beautiful. I'm glad we're going with a retro paint scheme. They captured the essence of the original car so well and it still really holds up well."
How do you feel about continuing your relationship with SRT Motorsports?
"In driving the Viper GTS-R it was nice to be part of such a small and energetic group and I thought there was a lot of cool stuff happening with Chrysler Group in general. You have this group of people who felt like underdogs and that alone is powerful, but when it's a bunch of smart, creative people, it's that much better. I was excited to be a part of that. Fast forward a few years to now and SRT Motorsports is definitely on a roll. The Viper GTS-R program has gone back to the historic red and white livery and they're starting to get some wins in IMSA TUDOR Championship and at the same time, the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is coming out for the street. It's cool to be a part of something that has some energy behind it."
Mike Miller, Team Owner, Miller Racing
Why did you make the change to Dodge Challengers in the middle of the season?
"It is something that we've talked about all season and if things had been ready, we would have liked to switch sooner but it did not end up that way. We talked to SRT Motorsports at the beginning of the season and had them come out before the season started. From there, we have just been working to get everything ready and this is the time frame that it all came together. We hope the successes of Miller Racing and SRT Motorsports will combine to make us an even stronger competitor in Trans Am."
What will be the biggest challenge with the change?
"We will keep the same chassis, but the different body and aero will be a bit of a challenge. The new car might affect the handling a little with downforce and the engine will be very different. We're going to have to learn how to make the whole package work together and adapt to the small nuances between the old vehicle and the Dodge."
Cameron Lawrence, driver, No. 1 Dodge Challenger SRT, Miller Racing
What are your thoughts on moving to a Dodge Challenger SRT?
"It will be interesting, but I think it will be a good project for us and will be fun to develop the car and the motor and get things going and bring the Dodge name into the series."
How has your season been to date?
"It's been a really good season as I've been off to a really strong start in the first half. It's definitely getting harder with a lot more cars coming out and some really good competition and good drivers that are all realizing what a good class the TA2 is. We've been successful and it's been really fun, but it's taken a lot of hard work to stay where we are and continue to get better, even though we had such a good year last year and won the championship. It hasn't been easy."
Are you excited to return to Mid-Ohio where you won in 2013?
"I'm really excited. It's a really cool track. There are tons of people that come out. I've only been there twice, but just the flow of it suits my driving style with the corners and the hard braking zones. Especially with all the cars we have coming out to that race, it's going to make for some close racing and it's a really technical track, so it'll show where the good drivers are and not just the good cars."
How does it feel to partner with Tommy Kendall?
"It's awesome. He's always been someone that everyone knows and he's famous in Trans Am and he's someone that you look up to. When I won my championship last year in the No. 11 car, I remember him commenting on my Facebook post. He congratulated me and said, 'Nice to see No. 11 back on top!' I took a screenshot and sent it to my dad saying how cool it was, and now being teammates with him is almost like a dream come true."

Miller Racing Announces addition of Ty Dillon for Road America!!!!
NASCAR Nationwide driver set to hone road-racing skills in TA2 class
When Miller Racing takes to the track at Road America for Round 6 of the Trans Am Championship, the VP Small Engine Fuels 100 Miles of Madness, the TA2 class race team will have a key addition alongside current drivers Cameron Lawrence and Mel Shaw—NASCAR Nationwide driver Ty Dillon.
“We’re very excited to have Ty with us this weekend,” said Mike Miller, owner of Miller Racing. “He’s a talented driver with plenty of experience and we’re proud that he has chosen Trans Am, and particularly Miller Racing and TA2 to develop his road-racing talent.”
The addition of Dillon for Road America will combine the race and championship -wining program of Miller Racing, with one of the Nationwide Series’ brightest talents, who currently sits fourth in the Nationwide Series standings.
“Obviously, I’ve always been a proponent of the TA2 class,” said Miller. “It’s a great platform for road racing—the power, the speed, the cars themselves—it gives the drivers a means of showcasing their skills and taking their talent to the next level. In the end, we are incredibly privileged to have been selected to prepare a TA2 car for Ty and we welcome the opportunity to provide a means for him to continue to hone his road racing skills. TA2 cars have a very similar performance to a Nationwide car and we see this as a great opportunity for us, Trans Am, TA2 and Ty.”
Some of Dillon’s previous accolades include 2011 ARCA Racing Series Champion, 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year, and 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver. He also finished second in points in the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Miller Racing has been a perennial force in the TA2 class with drivers such as defending TA2 Champion Cameron Lawrence, Pete Halsmer, Geoff Fane, Mel Shaw and Mike Miller, himself, all competing over the course of the team’s history. Cameron Lawrence is also the current TA2 points leader.
Miller Racing and the Trans Am Series will take to the track at Road America first for practice at 3:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday, June 19, followed by another practice session on Friday at 8:45 a.m. CDT and qualifying at 4:05 p.m. later that day. The 101.2-mile Trans Am race will take place Saturday, June 21 at 5:15 p.m.

NorthStar Battery to Sponsor Miller Racing
The 2014 Trans Am 2 series is about to heat up now that NorthStar Battery has signed on as major sponsor for the Miller Racing Team.
Miller Racing driver Cameron Lawrence was named TA2 Champion in 2013, and with the support of NorthStar Battery he will be set to defend his title.
The red Miller cars will be fitted with NorthStar’s new DIN size batteries – the same international OEM size that companies such as GM and Chrysler use for all their new models.
“We are excited to have Miller Racing putting our new line of Pure Lead AGM batteries to the test,” says NorthStar’s Vice President of SLI John Semeniuk. “The new batteries will roll out later this year, and it’s great to have the Miller team leading the way, as usual.”
Mike Miller, owner of Miller Racing, says he is very happy to continue the winning partnership with NorthStar.
“Their advanced AGM battery technology was used to win last year’s championship, and we hope to continue that success through our association with Northstar this year,” he says.
The new DIN series will soon be available for purchase in the US and Canada through the NorthStar online store buy.northstarbattery.com.
Proudly made in the USA, NorthStar Batteries use the latest manufacturing technologies to deliver long life, superior cranking, unrivaled cycling, faster recharge and minimal maintenance, even in extreme conditions.
NorthStar Batteries are ideal for vehicles that use the Start/Stop system, which comes standard for many modern vehicles and can quickly reduce battery life. NorthStar’s Pure Lead Thin Plate AGM technology outperforms the competition and keeps you moving.
With the launch of the DIN Series, NorthStar can now provide a perfect fit OEM solution to over 150 million vehicles, covering automotive, marine, RV, heavy duty, first responder and enthusiast markets.
NorthStar’s state-of-the-art battery plants in Missouri, USA, use the latest automated manufacturing to produce Pure Lead positive grid plates. These plates can be made thinner, which means more can be added into each battery to generate greater surface area, which increases power density. The plates are inserted under high compression, which also improves performance characteristics, virtually eliminating life limiting failures in high vibration applications.
Don’t settle for anything less - if you need the best, you need a NorthStar Ultra High Performance battery.
